Consultant Nurse for Nutrition,
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Tracy has worked at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for 16 years, and is currently consultant Nurse in nutrition support.  She has had success in implementing a new Integrated Nutrition and Communication Services Model providing a 7 day service for nutrition patients, amongst other services.  She has won many national awards including most recently the Nursing Times winner in patient Safety category 2019 for her work on improving patient safety with Never events. She leads a team of nurses, dietitians and speech and language therapists.  She has also has a medical leadership role, appointed as Associate Divisional Medical Director for surgery for the last four years.

  • Creating a leading programme in education and improved safety for staff which has become adopted by Health Education England as a national programme of education
  • Sharing the development of the ground breaking nasogastric tube e-learning tool that improves patient safety and reduces potential harm whilst training nurses
  • Using a whole systems approach through the e-learning tool to improve the confidence and competence of staff to ensure effective care
